Viral gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the inside lining of your gastrointestinal tract. It can
be caused by rotavirus, norovirus, adenovirus, and other viruses. Babies can be vaccinated against
rotavirus.
Transmission
It is spread through close contact with infected persons (for example, by sharing food, water, or eating utensils) or by touching surfaces contaminated by an infected person and then touching one’s mouth.
Symptoms
Viral gastroenteritis is an intestinal infection that includes signs and symptoms such as watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea or vomiting, and sometimes fever.
