Purpose
The aim of NTXpred server is to predict Neurotoxins and its source and probable function from primary amino acid sequence using SVM based on composition and PSI-Blast. Neurotoxins are Key players in science and medicine and are used in ion channels and receptor studies, drug discovery, and formulation of insecticides.
About NTXpred
1. The server allows users to predict neurotoxins from non toxin with 97.72% accuracy.
2. It allows to classify neurotoxin proteins based on source, mainly eubacteria, cnidaria(sea anemone), mollusca(cone), arthropoda(scorpion and spider) and chordata(snake) with 92.10% overall accuracy.
3. It allows to classify neurotoxins based on function, mainly the ion channel blockers, blocks Acetylcholine receptors, inhibits Acetylcholine release via metalloproteolytic activity or via phospholipase A2 activity and facilitates Acetylcholine release with 95.11% overall accuracy.
4. It also allows users to sub-classify the ion-channel inhibitors into Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, and Chloride ion channels inhibitors with 75% overall accuracy .
Uses
The server will assists prelimanary analysis of possible functions of new toxin and in designing experiments for functional charcaterization of newly identified neurotoxin sequences. This server will help to reduce the number of essential experiments.
