Results show that plumbagin targets the AKT signaling pathway. It can be firmly concluded that plumbagin induces autophagic cell death in MDA-MB-231 by suppression of the AKT pathway.

Tumor growth inhibition was most evident in mice treated with plumbagin at 2 mg/kg/d, where an nearly 70% reduction in tumor size was observed. Decreases of phospho-AKT was observed in the tumors of the plumbagin-treated mice in comparison with the tumors of vehicle-treated mice.
