Diseases Diagnosis

Disease diagnosis means to determine if the individual actually has a specific disease. There are various examples where personalized approach is being applied to disease diagnosis, for example:
  1. In case of Childhood leukemia, "one-size-fits-all" treatment is ineffective due to various genetic subtypes. There gene tests help to identify subtypes, they enables physicians to choose drugs and treatment protocols that are geared to the specific subtype.
  2. Cervical cancer, another case where it is difficult to identify high-risk strains of Human Papilloma Virus(HPV) causing cervical cancer. Genetic test identifies the high-risk strains of the HPV.
