Method	The gelator was added to 2 mL of water with an equimolar amount of sodium hydroxide (0.1 M, aqueous). For solutions prepared with potassium carbonate and potassium hydroxide again an equimolar amount of 0.1 M solutions were used. The solution was stirred until all the gelator was dissolved. This solution was then transferred to a vial containing a 2.5 mg/mL of glucono-Å’Â¥-lactone (GdL) and shaken gently. This was then left to stand to allow gelation to occur within a few hours.
