Disease Introduction MechanismCryptococcosis is a rare granulomatous disease caused by the encapsulated yeast Cryptococcus neo-formans that enters the human body through inhala- tion. The infection is usually systemic and typically presents as meningitis which has a mortality rate of up to 80% in immunocompromised hosts.
