| Disease Introduction Mechanism | The experimental paracoccidioidomycosis (PCMEx) caused by the dimorphic fungus Paracoccidioides brasiliensis is an inter-esting model to better understand inflammatory patterns of pulmonary macrophages (PM) populations. The human paracoccidioidomycosis (PCMHu) is characterized as chronic and progressive granulomatous disease with several regulatory disturbances of the immunity that seems to be ineffective against the fungus. The lungs are primary targets in human paracoccidioidomycosis; however, the potential role of PM in PCMHu is still unclear. |
