| Disease Introduction Mechanism | Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and primary Sjo Ègren's syndrome (pSS) represent distinct, but in some instances clinically and pathogenically overlapping connective tissue diseases.1,2 Both diseases are characterized by marked activation of lymphocytes including autoreactive T and B cells and the production of a variety of autoantibodies.3 In both entities, organ involvement and prognosis are frequently dependent on the degree of systemic vasculitis. |
