In contrast; SAA values in the serum of USPC patients had a median (95% CI) of 15.6 (9.2–56.2); significantly higher than those in the healthy group (P=0.0005) and benign group (P=0.0006). SAA is highly expressed in USPC; it is actively secreted in vitro; and that high concentrations of SAA are present in the serum of USPC patients. high preoperative serum SAA levels in USPC patients clinically diagnosed with early-stage disease are predictive of more advanced stage disease at the time of comprehensive surgical staging.
