[2] Positive Cathepsin-B immunostaining was observed in 27 patients (42.2%) and was significantlyassociated with the FIGO stage of the disease (p=0.006); as well as cervical and stromal invasion (p=0.001and p=0.037; respectively) and progesterone receptor status (p=0.027). Positive Cathepsin-B expression wasalso inversely related to Disease-free Survival (p=0.034) and Overall Survival (p=0.035) in univariateanalysis; as well as in multivariate analysis (p=0.022 and p=0.035; respectively). [2] Cathepsin-B expression is predictive of more aggressive tumour behaviour over time. Considered in isolation of other clinicopathological variables and age; Cathepsin-B positive staining was associatedwith about a 2-fold increase in the risk of both disease progression anddeath. This effect was even greater (3.9-fold increase in the risk fordisease progression and 3.6-fold for death); when outcomes wereadjusted to the other clinicopathological variables and age in multivariateanalysis.
