Help about OxDBase
OxDBase accession number: It is a uniqe identifier assigned to each entry of OxDBase database.
Name: The systematic name of the enzyme given by the Nomenclature Committee.
Categories:
Aromatic dioxygenases divide into two categories on the basis of their mode of action.- Aromatic ring cleavage Dioxygenases (ARCD): ARCD open the aromatic ring by incorporating two atoms of dioxygen (O2) in their substrates, typically carrying two or more hydroxyl groups on the aromatic ring.
- Aromatic ring hydroxylating Dioxygenase(ARHD): ARHD incorporate two atoms of dioxygen (O2) into their substrates in thedixydroxylation reaction and cis-diols are formed. This reaction also requires NAD(P)H as an electron donor.
Subcategories: On the basis of ring clevage, aromaticringcleavage dioxygenases (ARCD) further divide into two sub categories:
- Intradiol aromatic ring cleavage dioxygenases(IARCD): IARCD utilize non-heme Fe(III) to cleave the aromatic nucleus ortho to the hydroxyl substituents
- Extradiol aromatic ring Cleavage dioxygenases(EARCD): EARCD utilize non-heme Fe(II) or other divalent metal ions to cleave the aromatic nucleus meta to hydroxyl substituents.
