| Cohort | To investigate the effect of iron availability on P. brasiliensis colonization we infected BALB/c mice that were iron supple- mented. All animal experiments were performed in accordance with the international rules for animal experimentation. Thirty day old female BALB/c mice (n = 4) were injected intraperitoneally with a solution containing Ferrodex diluted in 0.9% NaCl (w/v; 50 mg/kg; Tortuga Companhia Zoote ´cnica Agra ´ria, Brazil). |
