CohortThe eight week old immunodeficient SCID mice (strain C.B-17) of the BALB/c background, CD4− /− and CD8− /− of the C57Bl/6 background, and immunocompetent BALB/c and C57Bl/6 mice were originally obtained from Charles River (Sulzfeld, Germany) and bred in plastic cages with sterilized wood-chip bedding situated in IVC Air Handling Solutions (Tecniplast, Pontremoli, Italy) with high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters. All mice were supplied a sterilized diet (TOP-VELAZ Praha, Czech Republic) and sterilized water ad libitum.
