CohortMyD88–/– and TLR2–/– mice, derived and backcrossed for five generations with C57BL/6, were obtained from Dr. Shizuo Akira (Osaka University, Japan) through Dr. Douglas Golenbock (University of Massachusetts, MA). Control WT C57BL/6 mice were purchased from Charles River Italia (Calco, Lecco, Italy). C3H/HeJ LPS-hyporesponsive mice, which have a loss of function mutation in TLR4, and control C3H/HeN mice, were also purchased from Charles River.
