| Cohort | A retrospective chart review was performed of all patients admitted to our multidisciplinary general inten-sive care unit (ICU) from December 2008 until January 2012 who were diagnosed with PCP and treated for acute hypoxemicrespiratory failure with any types of MV. During the study period, we sus- pected that 28 patients had PCP, based on their symptoms, radiographs, and history of underlying disease. Of these, 21 patients were diagnosed with PCP,and20(95%)required MV. |
