CohortThe adult patients evaluated in this study had been enrolled in a prospective, randomized, open-label, non-inferiority trial conducted from April 2003 to February 2006 in 13 French teaching hospitals (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT001190463). Of 293 patients enrolled in the trial, we selected all 185 (63%) febrile, neutropenic patients treated with chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia to constitute a homogeneous group at high risk of developing invasive aspergillosis.
