Disease Introduction MechanismInvasive Aspergillosis (IA) is considered a major threat for hemato-oncological and transplant patients whereas often underestimated in intensive care units (ICUs). Existing literature suggests that the population at risk for IA has expanded to chronic obstructive pulmonary dis- ease (COPD) patients, to the non-transplant intensive care patients; basically it now leans towards patients who do not present with the classical risk factors of IA.
