| Disease Introduction Mechanism | Candiduria, the presence of Candida species in urine specimen, is a common finding in hospitalized patients. Candida albicans is the most frequent causative organism of candiduria. The host risk factors to develop candiduria include urinary catheter or urinary tract abnormality, older age, female sex, prior antibiotic use, hospitalization in intensive care units and diabetes mellitus. The majority of candiduric patients reveal no symptoms, while few numbers of them present symptoms such as fever, dysuria, and flank pain. |
