| Disease Introduction Mechanism | Paracoccidioidomycosis is a systemic disease caused by the dimorphic fungus Paracoc-cidioides brasiliensis. Once in the host, the fungus can cause asymptomatic infection or disease, which has different clinical aspects. Although the lungs are the most frequently affected organ, dissemination to other systems or tissues is c o m m o n l y found, resulting in diverse lesions, depending on aspects inherent to both the infecting agent and the host. |
