Disease Introduction MechanismInvasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) can occur in patients with immunodeficiencies or corticosteroid- induced immunosuppression. Despite the fact that Aspergillus can be found in up to 60% of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients’ airways, invasive aspergillosis is a very rare and fatal complication. Invasive aspergillosis can be diagnosed with serology like the galactomannan (GM) test, which is negative in patients with CF colonised with Aspergillus.
